The neighbor said in a text "There were CalTrans people all over the bottom of the hill, along the highway and under the bridge [Rosebud] cleaning and working when I left this morning. "

Remarkably, the Silver Lake Fire, which burned most of the 2 Freeway parkways between the Red Car Property and Riverside Drive, did not burn this part of the parkway from Rosebud & Allesandro to Riverside Drive where the Brazillian Pepper Trees were a pretty solid wall of green. Neighbors were sad to see the green go last week. CalTrans left the first enormous Eucalyptus in this shot, the same tree is still standing in the first photo. It is the tree where the Red Tailed Hawks have a nest near the top third of the tree. The hawks returned with fledglings to the nest on the night of the fire.

Over the past two months, a large pile of clothes, bedding, broken plastic bins, computer parts, monitors, TV parts, washing machine drums and other trash has been shifting back and forth on Lot C, near a Riverside Drive house and lot that had squatter problems. The house has been under renovations for almost a year. (Click on photos to enlarge.)
January 9, 2016. We documented the pile when it first arrived after the New Year. Previously it was just washing machines, salvage and other construction debris. December 3, 2015 was the last time the Red Car Property was clean right here. It has always been a dumping hotspot.
January 21, 2016. The trash was consolidated and generally tidied up a few days earlier.
January 21, 2016. How considerate, they tidied up the trash and dumped a large pile of drywall.
January 30, 2016. By the end of January, little had changed, although it appears either animals or people had torn through the trash. We were tired of posting so many dumping photos on the blog, but we continued sending them to the Red Car Property owner's rep.
Photo: January 30, 2016. A squatter is living in the white truck that's been parked on Lot C on the Red Car Property for years. We sent this photo and others along to the Red Car Property owner's rep as soon as they came in. The truck is still parked in the same place today.
It is parked directly adjacent to the downslope portion of Lot C, where the adjacent property owner has long encroached on the Red Car Property by storing salvage and debris.
February 19, 2016. Last month, the trash pile was shifted over to the side with the drywall pile. Looks like some new graffiti is on the white door being stored back there. What have we always said about broken windows inviting more problems?
February 19, 2016. The trash in this shot is also in the current photo at the top of this post. Although someone nabbed the shoes.
Come on, the homeless have already picked through it. Haul it away. The drywall is still there, it's just hiding behind the trashcans. (Click on photos to enlarge.)

Photo: Red Car Neighbor #1, February 13, 2016. Saturday morning, neighbors snapped photos as a crew picked up the dumping that was hidden among the jade plants since November. There were a lot of broken windows hidden in the bushes that were not removed a few weeks ago in a partial clean up of the property.

Dumping would not be such a problem if all except emergency vehicle traffic were blocked from driving onto the Red Car Property.

Photo: Red Car Property Neighbor, February 12, 2016. Friday, a neighbor noticed the pile of dumping hidden among the jade plants in Red Car Canyon had changed. The pile was only partially removed a few weeks ago. The rubber mat in the mini-shopping cart was dumped just last week on Corralitas. The shopping cart did not appear to belong to a homeless person. This just looks like someone consolidating the debris.
Photo: Red Car Property Neighbor, February 12, 2016. The boxes were strewn about the canyon when someone picked up dumping a few weeks ago. The large debris was also left behind. This particular pile had was initially dumped in November.
We sent these photos to the property owner's rep, LAPD and CD13, the same day we received them. We get tired of being the Red Car Property dumping blog so we did not post them here immediately. Figuring the pile wasn't going anywhere, we took the holiday weekend off despite posting them to Twitter.
If you see someone dumping anywhere, take photos, get a license plate and call 1-877-ASK-LAPD while it's happening.
Photo: Red Car Property Neighbor, February 8, 2016. Out for an early morning run today, a neighbor couldn't believe someone bothered to drive all the way north from the India Street entrance to the Red Car Property to dump a stationary bicycle at the top of the historic landmark viaduct footings.
If you see someone dumping, anywhere: take a photo and/or get a license plate and vehicle description and call the non-emergency 1-877-ASK-LAPD and report it immediately. Stay on hold to report it, as dumpers are often serial dumpers. There may be other witnesses in other parts of the neighborhood.
The City will not pick up illegal dumping on private property. You may as well put this bike to good use, as it will be there for a while.

Photo: Red Car Property Neighbor, January 30, 2016. Just because it's dead, does not mean it's lightweight. It had to be driven here. We've had a 3' dead palm tree in our yard for a couple years, because it's too heavy to haul up to the street. This one is a lot larger.
It took effort to dump here - it takes more effort to get it picked up. The City does not pick up illegal dumping from private property.
If you see someone dumping anywhere, take a photo and/or get a license plate and car description and call the LAPD non-emergency line, while it's happening: 1-877-ASK-LAPD.

The City will not pick up dumping from private property. The photo was forwarded to the Red Car Property owner's rep. Neighbors fear the jade will just grow over the crap. It will only reappear next summer when the jade dries out.
If you see someone dumping - anywhere - take a photo if its safe to do so. Get a license plate and immediately call it in to the LAPD's non-emergency line: 1-877-ASK-LAPD.

We emailed the photo to the Red Car Property owner's rep Saturday. The City will not pick up dumping from private property.
Worth noting, the tree is not dead, it drops its leaves for winter.

The dishwasher was dumped along with a large pile of glass in October; the truck load of trash bags, in November. The dry weeds do not enhance the effect.
The junkyard appearance of the south end of the property is not helping anyone care about the property. The City will not pick up dumping on private property. We've made repeated requests of the property owner's rep to remove the dumping.

I had to laugh when I saw the sign. Yeah, those neighbors 50' upslope on Lake View Ave would bother to drive a dishwasher and a couple dozen bags of trash to Corralitas, onto the Red Car Property and dump them under a tree, below their house. The bags were intact when they were dumped there a few weeks ago. The dishwasher and full bags of trash were not flung down a steep slope. Since they first appeared, scavengers (human and/or animal) have torn into the bags and spread the trash around.
Photo: Diane Edwardson, November 13, 2015. The sign is propped up between discarded concrete and bricks, 10' in front of the bags of trash, under a huge tree which is a known dumping ground for someone who dumps large appliances, TVs and computers.
Last week, a neighbor pushed the last dishwasher dumped there into the open, in hopes the Red Car Property owner would actually have it cleaned up. (We send photos of every instance of dumping to the owner's rep). Instead, the very next day, several dozen bags of trash were dumped under the dishwasher tree, followed in the next few days by the additional wire frame and tree branches dumped at the dishwasher.
Photo: Diane Edwardson, November 13, 2015. So to review, it seems someone is setting out to trash the Red Car Property because they know the property owner does not clean it up. The City won't pick it up because it's private property. The pile of glass and general trash in the foreground was clearly swept out of the back of a pick up truck the same time the dishwasher first appeared under the tree (where the trash bags now reside) in early October.
Who does this benefit? The property owner will say it's a dumping ground - well it's the Red Car Property owner's responsibility to clean it up. The owner's rep has tried to make this the neighbors' responsibility to catch the dumpers. In 25 years, I've only ever caught someone in the act of dumping in our neighborhood 3 times. It can happen in the time it takes to drive to the post office and back, in the middle of the day. If it is someone from the neighborhood dumping on the property, then they're really not very good neighbors, and I'm betting it's not the people directly above the tree.

We're tracking rainfall totals in the Corralitas Rain Gauge. We had so little rain today we had to verify the amount with our neighbor's NOAA approved rain gauge...

Photo: Diane Edwardson, June 1, 2015. That Mercedes SUV was abandoned just south of the India St entrance to the Red Car Property more than 10 days ago. It's registered to an address in San Rafael. And as of last Friday, it was not reported stolen. (Click on photo to enlarge.)
The green bins just north of the India St entrance are overflowing with yuccas and tree branches. It's a good bet the the City will not pick up those overstuffed bins.
