Semi Tropic Spiritualists' Tract: Both Adult Hawks In Nest With 3 Babies, *Rat For Dinner

Videos: Gary Vlahakis, April 28, 2012.  At the 12 second mark, the other adult Red Tailed Hawk joins the family in the nest and takes off a minute later.  (Best viewed in full screen.)

As of May 2, 2012, there are still 3 babies in the nest.  Gary reports the recently hatched chicks are growing fast.  The largest seems to be the most aggressive, pushing the others around and getting the largest share of food, which in the next video *(shot April 30, 2012 around 5PM) appears to be rat.

Gary has a bird's eye view on the Red Tailed Hawk nest, 100' away from the controversial 16-lot subdivision in the Semi Tropic Spiritualists' Tract.  We hope we're not documenting the demise of these urban hawks since the construction site took nearly 4 acres of squirrel-rich habitat from the hawks.
