Corralitas Drive: Dawn Over The Eastside

Photo: Diane Edwardson, September 12, 2015.  I was going to blame particulate matter for this dramatic sunrise, and indeed, it may still be the cause.  However, according to Stephen Corfidi at NOAA/National Weather Service Center Storm Prediction Center, there are a number of factors in play including faraway volcanoes, type of clouds, elevation, time of year, local aerosols and particulate matter.  (Click on photo to enlarge.)
