Historic Fletcher Viaduct: The Big Parade Will Walk Through History Today

Photo: Loren Ayers, June 19, 1955.  The last day of Pacific Electric Red Car Trolley service for the Glendale Line crossing the Fletcher Viaduct as seen from Waverly.  (Click on photos to enlarge.)
The Big Parade, the ultimate urban hike, will have to cross Fletcher at street level but can marvel at how the bridge stood up to earthquakes and rainy seasons on such shallow concrete viaduct footings.  City of Los Angeles Cultural Historic Landmark #770 as seen from the Waverly Public Staircase.
