Neighbors report seeing other neighbors toss cigarette butts out of moving cars on Corralitas Drive. It boggles my mind that anyone would throw a burning cigarette out a window in California (yes, I've seen it too on our hill). They only thing I can think of is perhaps they didn't grow up in the time of TV news being the only thing on TV at dinner time, when a wildfire takes over the local media time for days on end, during fire season.
Not only does a careless cigarette put the entire neighborhood at risk for fire, it takes 18 months to 10 years for a cigarette butt to biodegrade, are the number one source of litter on the beach on clean-up days (they eventually wash down the river to the sea), can poison small animals & make our neighborhood a less attractive place to live.
Yet another reminder to GET YOUR BRUSH CLEARANCE DONE!
