Red Car Canyon Lake: Mudwatch, Preliminary Rainfall Numbers

Photo: Jonathan Vandiveer, February 28, 2014.  Shortly after noon Vandiveer took a quick look around Red Car Canyon.  Red Car Canyon Lake, the vernal pool between Lake View & Corralitas, had filled up quickly.  (Click on photos to enlarge.)

By 10:35 AM, the report from the Corralitas rain gauge was 2'' for today's storm alone. 

Photo: Jonathan Vandiveer, February 28, 2014.  Lake Red Car, the vernal pool behind Rose Scharlin Co-op Nursery school was filling up too.  Vandiveer said, "There were puddles in the strangest places. Places I've never seen puddles in before. I think it has something to do with the lack of rain before this big storm." 

Batten down the hatches more to come. From 2-2:30 PM we got 7/10" in the Corralitas rain gauge (yup, in just 30 minutes), closing in on 3".
