Photo: Diane Edwardson, February 6, 2013. One of the juvenile Red Tailed Hawks has been hanging around the California Black Walnut Trees looking for prey on the southern end of the Red Car Property. A neighbor's teenage son said this hawk has been swooping down really low, like within 5 - 10' of him and his friends while they were playing in the "meadow" portion of the Red Car Property, Saturday afternoon. (I trust this kid's observations since he's watched the hawks his entire life. He has a deep appreciation for wildlife. We discussed this hawk earlier the same day when we saw it near his house.)
