Photo: Diane Edwardson, February 13, 2012, 8:22 AM. Seeing lots of activity and possibly 2 adults in the Red Tailed Hawk nest this morning, I shot some photos. Sadly, they all came out like impressionist paintings. I couldn't create this if I tried. (Click on photo to enlarge.)
I had also called my neighbor, who captured such great images last year. His battery died just as one of the hawks took off from the nest.
All weekend, we'd seen little or no activity in or around the nest. Perhaps Saturday's 10 hours of standstill traffic on the 2 Freeway kept them away. The weather today is working against us for photos - that's a hawk butt pointed in our direction in the nest.
