How do you know what wildlife lives in your neighborhood? Sometimes you only know a species is there, when you find a dead one.
Moles live underground and eat worms and other invertebrates. I've only once seen a live one poking its snout out of a hole on Fellowship Parkway, on a foggy morning. More often, moles are left on the side of the road, after being killed by cats.
The last unusual species to turn up dead was a Ring-Necked Snake.
