It wasn't all that long ago, when Red Car Property neighbors spent many a nervous night waiting for the City to do brush clearance on the Red Car Property. It was not unusual for the City to be out with the backhoe and giant roto-tiller as late as November. Even if the dry grass was cleared, the trees and bushes were never trimmed.
In 2001, I toured the Red Car Property with a LAFD brush clearance inspector to address the dangerous situation. Every few years since then, the trees seem to get trimmed up from the ground and the City clears the flattish parts earlier in the summer.
