Photo: Diane Edwardson, April 19, 2015. For the past couple of weeks, I've encountered more Painted Lady Butterflies on the Corralitas end of the Red Car Property, than in quite a few years. (Click on photos to enlarge.)
This was the first time I was able to capture photos of the top of butterfly's wings. The wings' underside is much less colorful.
Photo: Diane Edwardson, April 19, 2015. The arrow is pointing to the Painted Lady. It was flying around casually stopping, landing on the dirt and the non-native, invasive wild geraniums. It was not feeding from flowers.
