2 Freeway Terminus Redesign: Get Ready For More Traffic & Fewer Trees, Meeting Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Photo: Diane Edwardson, April 10, 2012.  Homes on Corralitas Drive are less than 50' from the 2 Freeway, yet the EIR for the Terminus Redesign decided we would not be impacted despite the fact that CalTrans has consistently said we would see an increase in traffic idling here, no matter which design option was chosen.  (Click on photo to enlarge.)

The 2 Freeway Terminus Redesign also calls for cutting down all the trees on either side of the freeway and construction of a quarter mile or more of sound walls through our neighborhood.  Of course this option was slipped into the maps and never actually discussed in the EIR.  Sound walls do nothing for homes above the walls - most of the neighborhood.  They will not be planting trees to block the sound walls (they'll plant ivy), thus inviting graffiti vandals, creating an eyesore and decreasing air quality in a neighborhood already severely impacted by commute traffic on the 2 Freeway.

MTA is hosting a community meeting next week regarding the 2 Terminus Redesign:
