Frogtown Artwalk is a free self-guided tour of studios and galleries in Elysian Valley along the LA River. It's close enough to the Corralitas Red Car Neighborhood that you can walk or ride your bike to it. Click here for what else has caught our eye in Elysian Valley.
Elysian Valley got the name Frogtown when the Army Corps of Engineers cemented the LA River banks. Loss of natural riverbanks forced the frogs into the nearby streets and yards of Elysian Valley. A friend, who grew up in Elysian Valley in the 1960s, remembers the frogs everywhere, and lots of frogs getting run over by cars.
