Several nights this week, I thought a cat or some wild animal pooped on the backyard staircase, but it was gone by morning. Then I realized it was an unusually large slug. When I turned on the outdoor lights it curled up defensively, looking like a turd. When I started shooting photos with flash, it stretched out and moved really quickly toward the closest pile of leaves.
