It grows on the border of Silver Lake Court (a paper street) and the Red Car Property, between the Silver Lake Ave Public Staircase & India. (Click on photo to enlarge.) redcarproperty@gmail.com. *3/28/11 UPDATE: A reader identifies this tree as Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia). Cal Flora identifies it as non-native tree that can cause serious damage to native ecosystems. The Plant Conservation Alliance (of New England) Alien Plant Working Group has good information about it.
