Tom LaBonge Wants To Study Bike Friendly Public Staircases

I'd say most public staircases in our neighborhood are not bike friendly, nor are they ADA accessible. If a plan found a source for money to repair and maintain our much neglected public staircases, then perhaps they might be made bike friendly. City Councilmember Tom LaBonge, is this really a worthwhile pubic expenditure?

Our public staircases were built in hillside neighborhoods by developers in the early part of the 20th Century as access to public transportation, the Red Car Trolleys.

The City owns the public staircases as public streets. Neighbors are responsible for the maintenance of the public staircase to the midline of the staircase. There is no City money for even repairing the multitude of existing problems on the pubic staircases.
