Photo: probably Donald Duke, probably near the end in 1955. The India Street Red Car Trolley stop was built up from the current grade. Note the staircase leading up to the stop in the foreground, on the Lake View Ave (left) side of the tracks. (Click on photo to enlarge.)

The Silver Lake Ave Public Staircase originally linked the community to the Red Cars and Allesandro Elementary School. Now it links the community to not only the school, but also recreational opportunities of the Red Car Property.
Public Staircase tourism is a growing trend. There are 2 books, an annual tour and countless weekend explorers.
This week, we're looking at The Big Parade's trek through the Red Car Neighborhood.
