Red Car Property: Hawkwatch

Photo: Diane Edwardson, April 10, 2013.  The Red Tailed Hawks have been hunting close to the nest lately. This one was atop the last telephone pole on Corralitas Drive at the Red Car Property, a favored hunting perch.  (Click on photo to enlarge.)

We've been watching for signs of hatchlings in the Red Tailed Hawk nest at the corner of Allesandro St & Rosebud Ave in the parkway of the 2 Freeway.  The adults have been hanging around the edges of the nest, looking into the nest lately.  So it's possible eggs have hatched.

Get a good look inside a Red Tailed Hawk nest on the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's nestcam.

See all our Red Tailed Hawk nest videos from 2012 as bulldozers and heavy grading equipment completely reshaped and compacted the Semi Tropic Spiritualists' Tract, less than 300' from the nest.
