Corralitas Drive: Alligator Lizard

Photo: Diane Edwardson, October 13, 2012, 5:22 PM.  From halfway across my backyard, I caught sight of a nearly foot-long (nose to tail) Alligator Lizard hanging out under the overhang of my neighbor's roof.  (Click on photo to enlarge.)

This lizard was extraordinary.  I've never seen such a large lizard so high up a wall before.  (It seems to be poaching the spider's food stores.)   It was very long and thin.  Usually by the time you see one this large, it's pretty substantial.  Even more unusual, was its color.  I've never seen an Alligator Lizard so pale at this size before.  It's almost the same shade of beige as the roof trim, above.
