Red Car Property: Brush Clearance Attracts Hawks To Open Space

Photo: Diane Edwardson, May 22, 2011, 8:40 AM.  Yesterday's brush clearance of the meadow on the Corralitas Red Car Property brought one of our nesting Red Tail Hawks looking for gophers from atop the telephone pole.  Meanwhile a Mockingbird relentlessly dive bombed the hawk.  (Click on photo to enlarge.)

Nesting Update: We have baby hawks!  Last night around 6 PM, I watched (through binoculars) at least one white fluffy baby moved around awkwardly in the nest as one of the parents, stood watch on the edge of the nest.
