Corralitas Drive: Growing Pothole

Photo: Diane Edwardson, February 27, 2011. Soon this pothole will swallow a car. (Click on photo to enlarge.)

In December, a Corralitas Drive neighbor questioned a surveyor in the street. He said he was with The Gas Company and he was taking measurements for replacement of the main gas line on the street. We would be noticed by the Gas Company when the work would begin; most likely, March or April, 2011.

According to the surveyor, the gas line is old and causing erosion of the water main in Corralitas. Another neighbor confirmed a similar story when the water main broke further up Corralitas, a few years ago. Last summer, The Gas Company replaced a portion of a leaky gas line on still another part of the street.

In the meantime, a utility company had drilled a hole in the street and never refilled it with asphalt. Since December, the pothole has been growing on the first bend, going up Corralitas Drive. Another neighbor has reported it to the City. Hopefully, the pothole will be repaired before it swallows my car, or a dog.
