Yesterday, neighbor T. Glynn snapped a quick photo of a coyote heading toward the Semi Tropic Spiritualists' Tract from the Corralitas Red Car Property, under the 2 Freeway. Glynn writes in an email, "I should carry my camera. He actually stopped and looked at me! I grabbed my iPhone and he started walkin...bummer."
And, in case you think it couldn't possibly be a coyote, here's what to look for: long body, check; long legs, check; color changing from gray to brown to white on the belly, inner legs and around mouth, check; big head, check; big upright forward facing ears, check, tail held low, check. Or you can just get a good look at a coyote here.
*UPDATE, May 1, 2010: A neighbor reports seeing a coyote in the Canyon area of the Red Car Property, on the path from Riverside Place around 10AM on April 30th. It watched the neighbor for a while and then continued toward the Corralitas end of the Red Car Property. It was likely the same coyote seen above.
