(Click on photo to enlarge.)Thanks to a sneaky last minute move by the convicted slumlord, Sam Menlo's attorneys, we learned City Planning failed to get a written consent from Menlo & his consultant team, prior to the 30-day deadline for the Planning Commission to hear the appeal by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy of the 120 condo units approved for the Menlo Property.
So the Planning Commission had no jurisdiction over the case. There was no hearing on April 8. What did Menlo gain by this? A more receptive audience for the next appeal: City Council's Planning & Land Use Management Committee (PLUM).
