After the January rains, neighbors who regularly hike the Corralitas public staircase noticed the third flight of stairs had a fresh tilt toward the Pits of Doom. Portions of the unprotected and unsupported slope are crumbling into the abyss between the staircase and the incomplete wall.
Tuesday morning, a neighbor running the staircase said, "I figure I better do this now, before we lose the staircase."
