They leave nasty spiky seed pods that get caught between your dogs toes. (Click on photo to enlarge.) UPDATE May 27, 2009: Thanks to two readers, Philip and Breadteam, who both identified this plant as Common Storksbill, also known as Redstem Filaree (Erodium cicutarium). It is non-native, invasive and similar to the Broadleaf Filaree.
